Rose Barrett is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society with over thirty years of insurance industry experience, focused primarily in Workers’ Compensation, long-tailed Casualty lines, and Risk Management.

She has served as Chair of the California Workers’ Compensation Institute and as a member of the Actuarial Committee of the California Workers’ Compensation Insurance Rating Bureau, the Actuarial Committee of the National Council on Compensation Insurance, and has served on both the Actuarial Committee and the Board of Directors of the New York Compensation Insurance Rating Board.

EXPERIENCE


Prior to establishing her own consultancy, Rose worked for a number of large national insurers. She was responsible for the reserving and financial reporting global casualty loss reserves exceeding $25 billion in booked value.

She has managed large actuarial departments as well as a legal collections department, and has worked closely with rating agencies, federal and state regulators, and rating bureaus. She has worked as a loss portfolio transfer underwriter, pricing and binding deals as large as $40 million per transaction.

In Rose’s role as a Regional Actuary for a major national insurer, she worked with regional staff to price and structure large Risk Management transactions.

Rose has spoken at several insurance industry and actuarial conferences, such as RIMS, CCWC, CAS Annual and Spring Meetings, CAS Professionalism Meetings, and Casualty Loss Reserve Seminars.
